Dance For Kindness: FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The purpose of World Kindness Day is to look beyond ourselves, beyond the boundaries of our country, beyond our culture, our race, our religion; and realize we are citizens of the world. World Kindness Day is celebrated on November 13th and was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement. Celebrate World Kindness Day with Life Vest Inside during our annual WorldWide Dance for Kindness.

Thank you for an incredible Decade of Kindness. We appreciate your continued support and choosing to dance with us over these past 10 years! Life Vest Inside will be taking a small break and we will not be hosting Dance for Kindness in the 2023 year. Donโ€™t let that stop you from spreading kindness. Check out some of Life Vest Insideโ€™s other activities.

A FlashMob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression. Our Dance for Kindness FlashMob represents how a small group of dedicated and committed dancers can change the world. See an example clicking here: https://youtu.be/gKzq6uUq5mc

Yes, generally this is the idea with FlashMobs and also the reason why we are aiming to hold them in high foot traffic areas, where quite a few people pass by. Those participating in the dance will appear as simple bystanders, walking around sightseeing, window-shopping, etc. As the time for the FreezeMob approaches, all participants will make their way to their mark and freeze at exactly the same moment. They will remain frozen for a period of 3 minutes, during which time curiosity will be sparked and people will gather around to witness what is taking place around them. Immediately after the FreezeMob begins, the music will start and segue into the FlashMob dance. The element of surprise is dependent upon those participating following instructions and hitting their mark. Think of it as organized chaos ๐Ÿ™‚

Those participating in the FreezeMob will be given a specific kindness position to freeze in. Perhaps one person will be frozen having fallen on the floor and another bending down to help lift them up, or one person will be frozen giving a homeless man/woman a snack, or taking a picture for a tourist, giving a balloon to a crying child, picking up something off the ground that someone dropped, throwing a piece of garbage in the trash, spending some time with a senior citizen in a park, smiling, holding a door open for someone; the possibilities are endless. At the very same moment time will stop and those participating will freeze in their position for 3 minutes, giving passersby’s the unique opportunity to notice the kindness moments that are in constant motion. Actions speak louder than words. Check this out: http://youtu.be/nwAYpLVyeFU and you’ll see what it’s all about.

Bring your kids and connect with your Group Leader to let them know. Your children are more than welcome to take part in the dance as well – there is no age limit, however they should be supervised by an adult.

As long as the event is in a location that allows pets, feel free to bring your dog to the Kindness Revolution! Just be sure to have a leash – because after all some people are scared of dogs. And of course don’t forget the pooper scooper ๐Ÿ™‚

The event will take place on Sunday, November 13th, 2022. However the location and time will vary, so be sure to check the main event page for a listing or connect with the Group Leader for your region.

Life Vest Inside has created a universal EVENT FLYER to raise awareness about the event. A PDF version of the flyer will be available shortly. You can also find it on both the MAIN EVENT PAGE and your Group Leader will make it available to you as well.

Simply download the flyer, print it, post it, share it, email it – whatever you can do to get the word out. Perhaps you can post the flyers on College Campuses, Coffee Shops, Bookstores, etc. If we all do our part we are in for an amazing event!

Life Vest Inside has created Acts of Kindness cards, each card with its own individualized act. The purpose of the cards is to empower people to recognize that the value of one small act of kindness is greater than they can imagine.

Once you receive the card, it prompts you to perform the act and pass the card to someone else to keep the kindness going!

As mentioned Acts of Kindness cards will be distributed to all those participating in the event. At the finale all those participating will distribute Acts of Kindness cards to all the viewers, giving them an opportunity to carry on the message.

At the rehearsal prior to the event, your Group Leader will distribute Acts of Kindness Cards so that you will have them handy to distribute at the finale of the event. Group Leaders will also have extra cards for you to distribute at the location itself. Get your cards HERE!

Before & After Rehearsal be sure to take care of your personal needs. Depending on the location of your regions event, there may or may not be easy access to facilities.

Group Leaders will scan the area prior to leaving. If you have left something behind, simply contact your Group Leader and they will let you know if they have found it. Life Vest Inside is in no way responsible for any items lost at the event – so please be sure not to bring any valuables. Feel free to bring along a friend who can watch over your personal belongings.
